I  have two types of lip balms that I use to combat extremely dry lips. The two lip balms that I use are the following: Blistex and Carmex

Blistex is my favorite choice because it is a medicated lip balm that has a cooling effect for your lips.

DRUG FACTS

Camphor 1% ..... external analgesic

Menthol 1% .......external analgesic

Petrolatum 59.14%....Lip protectant

Phenol 0.54%.....external analgesic

Medicated Lip Balms - Contains three long-lasting protectants, and it seals in lip moisture to prevent the drying of lip tissue.

The active ingredients in Blistex that make this lip balm very effective are the following: Camphor, Menthol and Petrolatum.

Camphor and Menthol are two external analgesics, which helps to temporarily relief symptoms of cold sores and blisters.

Why Should I use A Medicated Lip Balm?

If dryness, cracking or soreness of the lip has already developed, it is especially important to use a medicated product to provide relief. A product with a penetrating analgesic can soothe the lips quickly and effectively.

Blistex helps protect lips  from the drying effects of wind and cold weather. Blistex comes in different types, Medicated Lip Balm, Lip Medex, Medicated Lip Ointment. I own the lip medex version of Blistex.

Lip Medex - Provides a special barrier that helps lip cells return to their natural, healthy, moisture balance. It's formulated to provide a quick, cooling lip relief you can feel working.

Medicated Lip Ointment - Clinically shown to elevate lip moisture, helps heal dry, chapped lips, and improve overall lip condition. It delivers a penetrating medication in a unique formula to relieve cold sores & severe lip dryness.

Carmex is another medicated lip balm protectant that is also a external analgesic as well. It comes in a squeezable medicated lip balm to soothe and protect dry, chapped lips.

Carmex only has to two active ingredients which are the following: Camphor and White Petrolatum. It contains only 1% of Camphor and 45.3% of Petrolatum. The effects of this lip balm are very temporary in terms of relief.
